Julia Wendon

Clinical Director of the Critical Care Division, Kings College, London

Professor Julia Wendon MB ChB, MRCP, FRCP, FFICM was appointed as Consultant Physician at King's College Hospital in 1992. She was the lead clinician for the Liver Intensive Care Unit until 2007 and has developed a unique facility with a worldwide reputation for the care of critically ill patients with liver disease. She is currently Clinical Director of the Critical Care Division.

She has published more than 150 papers on aspects of management of acute liver failure which have significantly impacted on international standards of care applied to the critically ill liver patient. She was awarded a professorial chair in 2012.

She is regularly invited to lecture at national and international meetings on topics relating to the intensive care management of both acute and chronic liver disease and has organized a number of International meetings. She is a member of the scientific steering committee of the Chronic Liver Failure Consortium of European Centres and has been invited to chair a European Acute Liver Failure Consortium.
