Consultant in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine, Warrington Hospitals, Cheshire, UK

I am a Consultant in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine in Warrington Hospitals, Cheshire. I trained in Liverpool, North West England and Melbourne, Australia. I have a long-standing interest in airway management, especially extubation and in the ICU. I was Clinical Director of ICU 2005-7 and joint Clinical Lead Anaesthesia/ICU 2007-11. I am a faculty member and contributor to the Aintree Difficult Airway Management course. I co-authored the Difficult Airway Society Extubation Guidelines (2012). I chair the joint Royal College of Anaesthetists / Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine / DAS group aiming to produce a guideline for Airway Management in the Critically Ill. I have lectured nationally and internationally. My spare time is occupied by our 3 teenage children. My occasional refuge is the local gym: the triumph of hope over experience.
