Amanda Harley

Queensland State-wide Paediatric Sepsis Clinical Nurse Consultant located at Children's Health Queensland

Amanda Harley is the Queensland State-wide Paediatric Sepsis Clinical Nurse Consultant located at Children's Health Queensland, and the paediatric nursing representative on the Queensland Sepsis Steering Committee. Amanda has her masters in critical care, post-graduate qualification in Education and is in the final year of her PhD investigating the recognition and management of paediatric sepsis in the ED. Her current role has her involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of a statewide paediatric sepsis pathway in Emergency Departments (ED) and inpatient units throughout QLD. Amanda is concurrently the study co-ordinator for a paediatric sepsis randomised controlled trial (RESPOND), investigating a fluid-sparing algorithm and metabolic support in resuscitation of children with sepsis. Amanda is passionate about sepsis recognition and management and the roles nurses' play. By undertaking clinical practice with research and quality improvement she is encouraging others to do the same.  She has been involved in and instigated a number of research projects around sepsis in the ED and is the recipient of multiple research grants.
