Clinical trials in critical care medicine are challenging to conduct and can be difficult to interpret. This talk will focus on some common problems encountered in clinical trial design and when evaluating big data. In particular, the talk describes the concept of base-rate neglect and the difficulty with drawing causal inferences from observational analyses using big data.
